I spoke to Karl a few minutes ago, they had stopped for dinner  so they hadn't reached their destination for the night yet. They still had 11 miles to go to get to their hotel. They had  had ridden 69 miles so far, so their total miles for today should be 80 miles bringing their total miles to 2613. They started out in Alamogordo, Mexico and are going to end their ride in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

Karl told me they visited the White Sands National Monument, which is west of Alamogordo. They spent about 1 1/2 hours there. They rode about 5 miles into the park and 5 miles back out. The road went at least 8 miles into the park but they didn't have time to ride to the end.  They took time to walk on a boardwalk in the park. Karl took some pictures but hasn't sent them to me yet. I will ad them to this post when he does.

Karl said about 50 miles into the ride they climbed a 10 mile long mountain which was steeper than the 8 1/2 mile one they did yesterday.

I learned Karl found a shortcut to get to the hotel so their mileage for today was 79 not 80 and their total miles 2612 not 26 13.

Here are the pictures he sent from White Sands National Monument. He mentioned some kids were riding the round plastic sleds down some of these sand dunes but he didn't get any pictures of them.
