I spoke to Karl just after 6pm our time. They had left Roswell, New Mexico and ridden 59 miles when they stopped under the awning of a post office to avoid rain. He said they had been under the awning for at least half an hour. They were still waiting out the rain when he called but he said it was clearing off and they should be on there way soon. He told they had about 15 miles to go to reach the the town of Ruidoso, New Mexico.

Karl told me they were kinda of in the mountains today. The road they were on stayed mostly in the valley winding around the mountains.

Karl just called again, a little after 9pm our time. They are now 3 miles from their hotel, so today's ride will be 74 miles, bringing their grand total up to 2483 miles for the trip so far. when he called they had stopped to eat to avoid more rain. He mentioned that Zach had a flat tire or they might have reached the hotel before it rained again. He took some pictures and plans to send them to me later tonight so I post them tomorrow.

Karl wanted to to pass on that he and Zach wanted to congratulate Pat and Ann on completing their ride from Pittsburgh to Washington, DC. He also wanted me to mention that he and Zach did that same ride last year as a training for their ride across country this year and just wondered if they had any plans to do a similar trip next year.

Here are the pictures Karl sent me from today's ride. I need to mention that they actually rode 76 miles today because they passed the hotel not realizing it had changed names from the one given on the GPS. By the time they realized their mistake they had added two miles to what Karl told me their mileage would be. So their total miles for the trip so far also changed by two miles to 2485.
