Karl and Zach got a late start today waited at their hotel until some thunderstorms had passed. They were finally able to leave their hotel in Jefferson City Missouri around 10:30. Karl said it was a little slow rolling on the Katy trail for the first 20 to 25 miles because the rain had made the trail soggy, once the trail dried out they could roll along much faster. They saw a black snake sunning itself on the trail today and they had to dodge some baby turtles and frogs that were on the trail. They went through the only tunnel on the Katy trail at Rocheport and they crossed the Missouri River for the last time today to end up in Boonville, Missouri. They rode 57 miles today for a total of 1458 miles so far.

Weather permitting, Karl believes they will reach Clinton, Missouri tomorrow. They still aren't sure whether they will try going over the mountains or go south to avoid the mountains when they get further west. Karl is leaning towards heading south as long as the temperature forecasts aren't too extreme.
