Today, Karl and Zach rode 65 miles from St. Charles, Missouri to Hermann, Missouri for a total of 1350 miles so far. Karl told me they rode about 61 miles on the Katy trail and the other 4 looking for a place to stay. They got off the trail at mile marker 100 to go to a little town called McKittrick where they thought they would find lodging. When they didn't find lodging there, the crossed back over the trail and the Missouri River to get up in Hermann which is about 3 miles from the trail. In the morning, he told me they would get back on the trail at the same mile marker they exited the trail on and head for Jefferson City.

Karl said they met two guys biking from San Francisco to Maine and shortly after meeting them, they met a couple who started their ride in Oregon and were heading to Lewis, Delaware with a stop in Pittsburgh for a wedding. According to Karl, the man from the second couple is a reporter for the Cape Gazette newspaper in Lewis and is posting updates on their trip via the paper. I am including a link to his site http://capegazette.villagesoup.com/p/barefootin/6584

Here are some pictures Karl sent. The first it from a cliff they saw from the Katy trail on the other side of the Missouri River. The second is the sign for the town of Hermann and the third is the sun reflecting off the Missouri River under a bridge.
